Intriguing!

3 June – 3 December 2023

Curator of the exhibition: Hanna Golla

“Intriguing!” is the title of a series of highly interesting texts written by members of staff in the National Museum in Wrocław, cyclically published on its website mnwr.pl.

The majority of museal discoveries, curiosities and sensations described by their authors were also included in the special MNWr anniversary publication.

The exhibition itself, given the same title and organised in the Ethnographic Museum, is directly linked with the cycle, presenting historical artefacts exclusively from the Museum’s collection, described earlier in “Intriguing!”. Visitors will be able to see: paintings and sculptures by non-professional artists, Hutsul exhibits (ceramics, wood and metal objects), artefacts used for making ginger cakes and printing the so-called ‘blaudruk’ (cloth printed using the batik technique), musical instruments, nativity scenes, elements of traditional costumes, decorative wall hangings (‘makatki’) and ornaments made with hair. Some exhibits, usually stored in the Museum vaults, will be shown to the public for the first time.

The exhibition is accompanied by a volume entitled “Intrygujące!” published in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the National Museum in Wrocław.
