The WRO Media Art Biennale 2019

CZYNNIK LUDZKI / HUMAN ASPECT
On the 30th anniversary of the WRO Biennale

15 Maj – 28 July 2019 — Four Domes Pavilion
15 Maj – 16 June — National Museum in Wrocław (
Main Building)

Curator and Artistic Director: Piotr Krajewski

On its 30th anniversary, Poland’s largest show of international contemporary art, which commenced as the International Sound Basis Visual Art Festival in 1989 and has explored the development of communication tools ever since, offers a critical scrutiny of processes unfolding in culture, communication and society by examining the CZYNNIK LUDZKI / HUMAN ASPECT in a post-technological perspective.

The Biennale will feature special invitation projects and a varied set of works selected from among more than 1,700 submissions from across the world. Over 100 works will explore the complexities inherent in the current relations between the human and the technological, with the human as an initiator, a recipient and, sometimes, a victim of these mutating interplays.

From mid-May till the end of 2019, Wrocław will host a series of events exploring the complexity of the current relations between the human and the technological, with the human as an initiator, a recipient and, sometimes, a victim of these mutating interplays.

The National Museum’s Four Domes Pavilion and the WRO Art Center will serve as the major exhibition venues of the Biennale, exploring topical concerns of the modern (and archaeological) media, such as transhumanism, digital art, interactivity, AI, bot emotionality, video-art, live coding, inter-species communication, digital environments.

Events take place at the Four Domes Pavilion and the Main Building of the National Museum in Wrocław.
