9 April – Easter Fair
Curator of the exhibition: Dorota Jasnowska
Decorating Easter Eggs has remained one of the most vital areas of ritual!! art, still cultivating its traditional styles.
For over fifty years now, around Easter, the Ethnographic Museum in Wrocław has organised an annual exhibition “Easter Eggs and Palms”, whose leading idea is the presentation of objects linked with the customs/rituals of Easter, as well as popularising the traditions of Easter Eggdecorations in Lower Silesia. The exhibition, being a true font of knowledge about the contemporary local traditions in Easter Egg decoration, helps to maintain and further develop this art, and to record its evolution. The outcome of these exhibitions is also the Museum’s ever growing collection of Easter Eggs.
