Curator’s tour in English through the Maria Pinińska-Bereś exhibition, guide: Heike Munder
A large monographic exhibition of the celebrated modern Polish artist, Maria Pinińska-Bereś (1931–1999), considered one of the most prominent personages of 20th-century Polish art. The aim of this exhibition is to reinforce the knowledge of the artist’s work in the international arts stage, and establish her prominent position in history of art. According to the curators, the works created by Pinińska-Bereś enhance the perception of 1960s and 1990s art, and of its key subjects such as performativity, “form and non-form”, (non)presentation of femininity/feminism, as well as ecological awareness and transhuman coexistence. These subjects are presented via a wide selection of the artist’s work, including her most important sculptures and performances made in the period from the 1950s to the end of the 1990s.

Pierwsza od ponad dwudziestu lat wielka monograficzna wystawa słynnej artystki współczesnej. Maria Pinińska-Bereś (1931–1999) uznawana jest za jedną z najbardziej wyjątkowych postaci polskiej sztuki XX w. Jej twórczość eksplorowała sferę kobiecości i kobiecego erotyzmu, ich społeczno-polityczne uwikłania, a także relacje ze światem natury. Na wystawie pokazany został szeroki wybór prac powstałych od lat 50. do końca minionego stulecia, w tym najważniejsze rzeźby i performanse. W Pawilonie Czterech Kopuł to już kolejna retrospektywna ekspozycja, której bohaterką jest znakomita polska artystka.
