Tables in the 18th and 19thc.

1 December 2020 – 4 July 2021

Curator of the exhibition: Małgorzata Korżel-Kraśna

A presentation of a wide variety of different types of tables, the wealth of their shapes and decorations, and most importantly, the functions played by them.

The aim of the exhibition is to draw attention to the exceptional role of this piece of furniture throughout history, the way it united its users – at work, at mealtimes and at their leisure, and helped in resolving all kinds of conflicts, as well as to show the changes it underwent  during the 18th and 19th centuries, i.e. at the time when the table took pride of place in salons and dining rooms.

The showcased artefacts come mainly from the collection of the National Museum in Wrocław, one the largest collections of historical furniture in Poland.
