Gallery of Non-Professional Art

A new permanent exposition in the Ethnographic Museum

Opening in the last quarter of 2026

Curator of the exhibition: Marta Derejczyk

Works by non-professional artists linked with Lower Silesia, for example Anna Binkuńska, Jarosław Furgała, Józef Lurka, Józef Mączyński, Brunon Podjaski, and Władysław Sałdyka, are presented in the permanent exhibition of non-professional art inaugurated in 2026 in the Ethnographic Museum in Wrocław.

The exhibition showcases the most interesting contemporary exhibits from the Department of Folk Art in the Museum, whose collection comprises paintings, prints, sculptures, bas-reliefs, maquettes, and objects related to mobile toys and religious decorations. The collection is mainly of a regional character, covering the area of the present Lower Silesia Voivodeship, however it also includes some artefacts from the Opole and Lubuskie regions, the area around Częstochowa, and from Silesia.

The opening of this exhibition continues the traditions of the institution – the first in Poland – permanent Gallery of Non-Professional Art, showing around 150 works by a dozen or so artists, was actually inaugurated in 1981 in the Ethnographic Museum in Wrocław.
