“Abakanowicz. Total” – the guided tour in English through the temporary exhibition with elements of Italian language, guide: Anna Bertoncini
Magdalena Abakanowicz (1930–2017) was an artist of worldwide fame and prestige. Based on her works from the collection of the National Museum in Wrocław, we will talk about the main stages of her work: starting with three-dimensional woven forms, called by their name “Abakans”, through figure cycles “Crowd”, “Back” and “Seated” made of jute fabric and resin to outdoor sculptures (from the “Birds” cycle and the “Knights of the Round Table” series) presented in front of and behind the Four-Domed Pavilion in Wrocław.
“Abakanowicz: a dialogue on emotions” – emotions are strong feelings deriving from one’s circumstances, mood, or relationships with others; they bring together memories of stories and life events.
During this two-hour workshop participants will live a journey of discovery of Abakanowics’s immersive artworks and their own life stories, lead by the soothing and overwhelming effects of emotions that the exhibition is transmitting and generating.
Artworks presented and analyzed during the workshop: “Abakans and Crowd”.
